Women of Steel, a rousing story about the 1980-1994 campaign by Wollongong women for the right to work at the BHP-AIS steel works toured Australia for the first time in November 2020. The personal story of the campaign sustained by Robynne Murphy and hundreds of other local women for jobs at BHP is exciting, moving and often humourous. Progressive PR & Communications (PPR&C) were briefed to deliver a PR campaign across Australia to relevant media and to media in cities where the film Women of Steel was screening.
PPR&C proposed a compelling Australia wide campaign that focused on achieving extensive arts / film reviews as well as coverage in the locations where the film was being shown.
The highlights in terms of coverage were The Weekend Australian, ABC Radio National Breakfast, ABC national Weekend Evening show and multiple other ABC radio interviews.
